It is known as the capital of flowers, in recent years, flowers such as roses, daisies, lilies… in Me Linh district have been favored by many consumers for their beautiful colors, designs, and diverse styles. With the desire to support local people in finding outlets for their products and preserving the beauty of flowers, Mr. Dinh Van Tuan (Trang Viet commune, Me Linh district, Hanoi city) has “connected” with the profession of making “immortal flowers”.

We were fortunate to meet and talk with Mr. Dinh Van Tuan at the exhibition of typical agricultural products, OCOP products on the sidelines of the 10th Congress of Farmers in Hanoi. Our first impression of Mr. Tuan is a young man with dark skin and a bright smile. His eyes, when talking about “immortal flowers,” seem to show us his love and passion for the profession.

Sharing about the bond with the profession of making “immortal flowers,” Mr. Tuan said that he has a friend who loves flowers very much. This friend often buys flowers to decorate her living space. However, after arranging the flowers, they only last for a few days, then have to be discarded, which is very wasteful. Her wish is for fresh flowers to last longer, so she can admire the beauty of the flowers and save money on buying flowers. From her thoughts, Mr. Tuan understands that this is also the thought and desire of many flower lovers.

Besides, from the practice of living and working in the locality, Mr. Tuan realized that local flower prices are influenced by many external factors. Even though we have a lot of time to care for and invest a lot of money, the story of good harvests losing value and bad harvest prices is unavoidable. It was the above factors that motivated the young man to do something to support farmers as well as realize the dreams of flower lovers. After a long time of wondering and thinking, Mr. Tuan came up with the idea of making “immortal flowers” and began to learn about how to make this product. “When I decided to make “immortal flowers”, my wish at that time was to contribute my small effort to sell flower products to local farmers. At first, there were many difficulties because the number of orders was small and not many customers knew about it. But I still decided to stick with it and hope that my “immortal flower” product will be known to customers nationwide, thereby affirming the quality and taking the Me Linh flower brand further.” – Mr. Tuan shared.

That’s the wish, however, to make an “immortal flower” product, we have to go through many stages. Mr. Tuan shared that it takes about more than 20 days to process a fresh flower into an “immortal flower”. The stages include: Choosing a garden and cutting flowers (this stage needs to be noted that when cutting flowers, you must choose the time when the flowers bloom most beautifully). After being cut, the flowers will be transported to the factory and the flowers that are not crushed will be selected for sand incubation at a stable temperature for 7 – 10 days. After that, the flowers will continue to be incubated with anti-humidity seeds to absorb all the moisture to ensure the flowers are 100% dry. The last step is also the most difficult step: trimming the petals and placing the flowers in a glass vase and gluing it tightly.

In the process of making “immortal flowers”, every step requires meticulousness and skillfulness, but the step of putting the flowers into the vase is very important and must be done carefully because this step directly affects the preservation of the flowers. For this step, I use technology to remove all the air and moisture inside the flower vase and seal it tightly, not allowing the air to come into contact with the flowers. As a result, the processed flowers placed in the vase can be preserved for up to 20 years.” – Mr. Tuan said.

For those who have been or are involved in the profession of making “immortal flowers”, maintaining the original color of the flowers is a very difficult task. This task is even more challenging for chrysanthemums. However, this difficulty does not deter the young man Dinh Van Tuan. With a diligent nature, willingness to learn, Mr. Tuan has successfully added chrysanthemums to his “immortal flower” product line.

“If in Me Linh commune there are many roses, then Dai Thinh commune has a lot of chrysanthemums, so I also want to preserve the beauty of chrysanthemums for as long as possible. To have standard and aesthetically pleasing chrysanthemum flowers, I choose the diamond chrysanthemum variety and collaborate with local farmers to ensure a stable source of raw materials. The products made from my diamond chrysanthemums are loved and highly appreciated by customers.” – Mr. Tuan shared.

At the moment, Mr. Tuan is producing nearly ten types of “immortal flowers”. These flowers include: roses, lotus flowers, gun flowers, orchids, dahlia flowers, chrysanthemums… In addition, Mr. Tuan often explores and creates new “immortal flower” products, diversifying the products available to customers.

In the future, he will research and make more different, quality products to increase product value. From there, it confirms the quality and value of Me Linh flowers.
